Merge PDF files

Several documents, one file

How to merge PDF files

Add the documents you want to combine, put them in the order you need, and download the result as one file. The order of the list is the order of the pages, so move a document up or down before merging rather than fixing it afterwards.

Everything happens in your browser. The documents are read into memory on your device, joined there, and written straight back to your downloads — no upload, no waiting for a server, and no copy left anywhere.

When this is what you need

Most often something has to arrive as a single attachment. A signed contract plus its annexes. Scanned pages captured in two sessions because the scanner jammed halfway. An application form with certificates attached. A month of invoices going to an accountant who does not want eleven separate emails.

It is also the natural next step after converting photos to PDF: convert each set, then merge them into one document.

What is kept, and what is not

Page content, page size and orientation are preserved exactly — nothing is re-encoded, so scans stay as sharp as they were and text stays selectable.

Bookmarks and document outlines are not carried across, and links pointing to pages elsewhere in the original will not resolve. If two files contain form fields sharing a name, filling one fills the other. These are worth knowing before you merge a complex document rather than after.

Why in the browser

Merged documents are usually the sensitive kind — contracts, medical records, identity papers. Uploading them to a stranger’s server to have pages joined together is a poor trade. Here your documents never reach a server, so there is nothing to trust and nothing to delete afterwards.

Are my documents uploaded anywhere?

No. The merge happens inside your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, which is why the tool still works if you disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded.

Can I merge a password-protected PDF?

Not directly. A protected file has to be unlocked first, in the program you normally open it with, and the unlocked copy can then be merged.

Are bookmarks and form fields kept?

Bookmarks are not carried into the merged file. Form fields are kept, but if two documents contain fields with the same name they will behave as one field afterwards.

Is there a limit on file size?

The practical limit is your device's memory rather than a fixed number. Very large scans on an older phone may run out of memory, in which case merge them in smaller groups.
