How to rotate a PDF
Open the document, choose which pages to turn and which way, and download the corrected file. The rotation is written into the document, so it stays correct for whoever opens it next — on any device, in any reader.
The work happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the page keeps working after you disconnect from the internet.
Why rotating in a viewer does not stick
This is the reason most people end up looking for a tool at all. Preview, Acrobat Reader and most browser viewers offer a rotate button that turns the page on screen but does not change the file. Close it, send it on, and it is sideways again for the recipient.
Rotation here is saved into the document itself. The next person to open it sees it the right way up without doing anything.
When pages come out sideways
Almost always a scanner or a phone. A sheet fed into the tray the wrong way round, a document photographed in landscape, or a multi-page scan where the machine flipped alternate sheets. Mixed documents are normal: some pages need turning a quarter turn one way, some the other, and some are already fine.
Quality is untouched
A PDF stores rotation as an instruction attached to each page rather than as redrawn content. Turning a page therefore does not re-encode anything: text stays selectable, scans stay exactly as sharp as they were, and the file size is essentially unchanged.
Nothing leaves your device
The documents people need to straighten are usually scans of something personal — contracts, certificates, identity papers. There is no upload here and no server copy, which is the whole point of the tool running in the browser.
Why did rotating in my PDF viewer not save?
Many viewers rotate the picture on screen without writing the change into the document, so it opens sideways again for the next person. This tool writes the rotation into the file itself.
Does rotating reduce quality?
No. Rotation is stored as an instruction in the document rather than by redrawing the pages, so nothing is re-encoded and the file size barely changes.
Can I rotate only some pages?
Yes. Scans often need one page turned one way and another turned the other, so rotation can be applied to chosen pages rather than the whole document.
Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. Unlock the file first in the program you normally use, then rotate the unlocked copy.
